Our club was originally formed in the 1900s but was unfortunately disbanded during the war years. With a collection of £11.01 and £181.19 from a disco, Bishop Sutton Football Club was reformed in the 1977/78 season with an Under 12 team playing in the Woodspring and District League. Bishop Sutton play the home fixtures at the Lake View Ground, Wick Road.
The changing rooms were originally located in an outbuilding belonging to the Butchers Arms Pub. After the livestock was removed from the adjoining field the pitch was made. In the 25 years we've gained many honours with our playing skills, but we should be equally proud of our achievement in progressing from changing in a disused outbuilding to the facility we have today. During this time some £100,000 was raised & spent.
Our club progressed through all the age groups until Under 16s, when we joined the Bristol & Avon League. From there the club progressed into the Somerset Senior League. We were promoted to the Western League after finishing as runners up in the Somerset Senior League Premier Division in 1991. In the 1997-98 season we were the Western League Division 1 Champions and were promoted to the Premier Division where we currently still play. The reserve team was formed to help support the first team and started off playing in the Mid-Somerset League and then progressed to the Somerset Senior League. The Reserve team won promotion to Division 1 in the 2001/2002 season finishing 3rd behind Crewkerne.
Our club also runs an Under 18s side in the Premier Division of the Somerset County Floodlit League. The policy of the club is to have a young reserve side hoping to bring young talent into the first team.
